Day 7: Salt Lake City (but mostly Wyoming)
Well, today is the day. We finally arrived in Salt Lake City, but not before a lengthy car ride through Wyoming. Once we arrived in Utah we were pretty exhausted, so we got some pizza and went to bed. In an effort to keep entertaining our loyal audience, here are some fun facts we learned about Wyoming while we were in the car.
Wyoming is the least populated state in the US.
The borders of Wyoming are all on lines of longitude and latitude.
The town of Larime, WY sits pretty high, at 7,165 feet. It’s also insanely windy and cold. We stopped at a rest stop somewhere near there, and it was CRAZY windy, up to 70 mph. The temp driving through there? 57 degrees. In August. I had to wear a sweatshirt. It was wild.
Here’s the real kicker. If a cow and a bison/buffalo/yak/water buffalo reproduce, it’s called a beefalo. Yes, you read that correctly, a beefalo. Do yourself a favor and Google a picture of “beefalo”. You will not regret it.
The next two days are full of apartment hunting. Stay tuned for more on that later!
UPDATE: I told my mom about the beefalo and she already knew about it! Go mom, so wise about bovines :)
