Fall 2022

It’s full-on winter here in Pootah, and it’s been forever since I blogged. Fall (aka the month of October) was a little all over the place in both good and bad ways.

The first third of October, Ian and I were in Boston for a wedding then back home in Maryland for our own wedding celebration. When we got back to Pootah, I found out my boss had quit. Work-wise, things have been pretty hectic for me. There’s been a ton of learning curves and catching up and figuring things out on the fly. I have amazing coworkers, but Good Lord, the last couple of weeks have been stressful.

Ian’s work is going fine, but he had a cold so he’s been dealing with that for the last week or so. The immediate onslaught of cold weather, rain, and snow after a week of lovely 70 degree weather after we got back kinda messed everybody up. People are dropping like flies with cold/flu symptoms around here.

I’ll keep this reintroduction to blogging shorter for both your and my sakes. Stick around until the end for some quality wedding celebration content.

Things that happened lately that were exciting:

  • Ian and I got to celebrate one of his good friend’s/groomsmen’s wedding in Boston, which was fun and also great because we weren’t the stars of the show. Also, Boston was really fun to explore in, and we had some delicious seafood (fried lobster and waffles (as opposed to fried chicken and waffles) and the best clam chowder we’ve ever had.

  • Ian and I got married again! I know you’re all probably waiting impatiently for photos. I’ll add them at the end of the post, not to worry.

  • We went to Camden yards, and I got my long-awaited crab fries.

  • We made turkey casserole the other week, and it turned out really well (unlike some lasagna soup from a few weeks ago…oops). We’ve got balsamic cranberry chicken baking in the oven as we speak.

  • We went on a fun snowy hike up in the mountains, which was great practice for our Colorado Christmas road trip (more on that later).

  • I figured out a cheat way to order a peppermint mocha from Starbucks without it being horrible for you.

  • I went hiking with my snowshoe girls and saw the neighbors, which was fun. Having friends is cool.

  • We voted (not that the candidate options out here are any good).

  • None of our plants have died since we got home from Maryland, which makes Ian very happy.

Things that will be happening that we’re looking forward to:

  • Next weekend we’re going to Park City to hike

  • The weekend after that we’re having separate husband/wife hang out days with the neighbors, so Ian gets some guy time and I get some girl time

  • The weekend after that is Thanksgiving, so we’ll be at Zion National Park hiking it up.

  • Over Christmas, we’re going on a snowshoeing road trip to all four national parks in Colorado.

  • The lilies should be blooming soon in my Trader Joe’s flowers.

  • Ian is excited for snowboarding.

  • I might make brownies later.

Time for a Photo Dump!

Here’s us at the wedding in Boston. It was freezing and windy, but my coat didn’t make it into the photo.

Reunited and it feels so good.

It’s so weird that she’s old enough to legitimately order alcohol.

And we’re back to Pootah.

We saw 20 different high alpine lakes on this hike.

Huge shout out to Seth, our DJ, and Katie Heady, our impromptu DJ’s assistant and amazing person and friend. And Shoutout to Katie Swanson for being the best ride or die.

Our first dance

Dad is a far better dancer than I am.

Cotton Eye Joe dance off

Ian and Grandma had a surprise dance.

I couldn’t find a video of this, but Ian and all my sisters did a cute dance to “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles. You’ll just have to take my word for it that it was cute.

Thanks to all of our amazing friends and family who helped make our celebration so special! We had an amazing time and were so glad to hear from everyone who told us they had fun too!

PS - contrary to popular rumor, us having a wedding will not be an annual event ;)
