WE GOT A HOUSE

Apologies for the misleading photo, but the only other piece of news since my last post is that one of the windows on the truck was smashed in the hotel parking lot. More photos of our new place will come later.

It’s official - we have signed the lease and gotten the keys to a rental townhouse!

Okay, now that I’m done happy dancing around the room, let me provide some additional info. This is not the “Sugar House Murder House”, as we like to refer to the other rental townhouse we mentioned a couple weeks ago. This is a new rental townhouse in Draper, which is must nicer and in a much better neighborhood. The complex already had a mix of apartments and townhomes when it was built in 2013, but they just built/are still building an expansion of brand new rental townhouses to add to their property. So we’re the first ones to ever live in this place, which is kind of cool. It’s three stories, has a two car garage, nice natural light, and (here’s the real kicker) a front-loading washer/dryer! There’s also a bunch of shops between the houses and the main road, so we can walk to a ton of restaurants, which they gave us coupons for when we moved in.

We still have to wait for the rest of our stuff to start really setting it up, but the POD won’t be here until next weekend. That’s okay, though. We’re just happy to have a place of our own. Please contact Ian or I privately for the address :)

I’m writing this from a hotel room in Draper while the Safelite Auto Glass man fixes Ian’s truck window, because some dumb butt decided to smash the window in on Sunday night. We left our hotel room on Monday morning to go for a Labor Day hike only to find the window broken in. Oddly enough, nothing was stolen (for which we are very grateful), but that’s why we think it was either an accident or a just a real idiot. Who smashes in half a car window but doesn’t finish the job to steal stuff?

Anyway, we are excited for our new place. A lot of places out here have fiber optic internet, so we’ll have to report back on how that works. It’s supposed to be super fast, though. We also won’t have cable TV, so we subscribed to YouTube TV, which lets you stream live TV. We really only watch a couple of channels and live sports, but unfortunately, there’s no service that allows you to watch just ESPN and Law & Order SVU. I’m watching a classic SVU on USA marathon right now :)

The housing market around here is crazy, so we’re happy to have a place. New developments are popping up everywhere and it’s still hard to find a vacancy. Of course, this means landlords can charge you an arm and a leg in rent, but we’re getting a decent deal given all of the house that we get for what we’re paying.

Stay tuned for more house updates! Love and miss you all!
